Syndesmotome or Bernard elevators feature a concave surface measuring 3.6 mm wide, suitable for use as a periotome or for elevating small roots.

The single-ended instruments are equipped with size 504 oval handles. Syndesmotomes are available in three types: Straight Bernard, Right Bernard, and Left Bernard.
